Yard Jockey operates gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination bringing trailers to loading docks to be unloaded. Backs trailer to loading docks, performs safety checks to secure trailer, opens bay doors, and assists dock workers in loading/unloading trailer. Being a Yard Jockey maintains radio or telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick up. Typically requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Yard Jockey requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Yard Jockey works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Yard Jockey typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. Our Jonestown Distribution Center, a 218,000 sq. ft. refrigerated facility operating 24/7, is currently seeking a Yard Jockey/Shunt Driver to join our team. The essential function of this position is to assist in providing timely and safe re-positioning of commercial tractors and trailers to designated areas located on facility property.
Shift: 2nd shift (6:00 PM - 5:30 AM) working an alternating 3 day-4 day work week (equivalent to working approx. 14-16 days per month)
