Yard Jockey operates gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination bringing trailers to loading docks to be unloaded. Backs trailer to loading docks, performs safety checks to secure trailer, opens bay doors, and assists dock workers in loading/unloading trailer. Being a Yard Jockey maintains radio or telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick up. Typically requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Yard Jockey requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Yard Jockey works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Yard Jockey typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of Webstaurant Store’s Oklahoma Distribution Center, you have the primary responsibility for supporting Inbound and Outbound operations by ensuring containers and trailers are relocated to the requested dock doors and/or yard space in a timely manner. The Yard Jockey/Equipment Operator should remain in communication with Inbound and Outbound management teams to ensure accurate and timely movement of containers and trailers on a scheduled daily basis. The Yard Jockey/Equipment Operator will only be responsible for transporting containers/trailers on Webstaurant Store property.
