Yard Jockey jobs in Louisville, KY
Yard Jockey operates gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination bringing trailers to loading docks to be unloaded. Backs trailer to loading docks, performs safety checks to secure trailer, opens bay doors, and assists dock workers in loading/unloading trailer. Being a Yard Jockey maintains radio or telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick up. Typically requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Yard Jockey requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Yard Jockey works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Yard Jockey typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. Hours are Monday - Friday 7:00AM-3:30 PM with no nights, weekends, or holidays. Must be reliable (no attendance issues) with strong attention to detail.
Loads, unloads, and moves truck chassis near plant, yard, or worksite.
Responsibilities
- Receive & check in incoming vehicles.
- Inspect vehicles for issues.
- Shuttle trucks from site to off-site storage.
- Chassis inventory control.
- Schedule Truck Deliveries to Customers.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3-6 months related experience minimum
