Yard Jockey operates gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination bringing trailers to loading docks to be unloaded. Backs trailer to loading docks, performs safety checks to secure trailer, opens bay doors, and assists dock workers in loading/unloading trailer. Being a Yard Jockey maintains radio or telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick up. Typically requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Yard Jockey requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Yard Jockey works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Yard Jockey typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. What tasks will you be doing on any given day?
-- Mow, edge, and blow lawns.
-- Plant maintenance
-- Weed/grass control
-- Installation of Designed Landscape Plans
-- Fertilization, Lawn Disease, and Pests applications
-- Spring and Fall Clean Up
-- Maintain equipment and truck/trailer
-- Drive safely to and from client properties/vendors/stores
-- Need to know how to safely drive with and back up a trailer.
-- Handle customer complaints/concerns if cannot be resolved leverage management
-- Manage debris dumps
-- Notify management of necessary inventory that is low and or equipment that is malfunctioning/needing repair
-- Notify management of any new leads, and additional work requests from current clients
-- Recognize and notify clients of problem areas and upsell services based on the discovery of such problems
What are we looking for?
-- Technician, with the opportunity to promote into Manager.
-- 1 year experience but willing to train for the right fit.
-- Reliable transportation to and from the office
-- Valid Driver's License
-- Must be able to lift 50-75lbs on your own
