    Summary/Objective

    KMS Solutions is seeking a highly motivated individual to join a team of engineers and technicians providing engineering and technical support to the Ranges, Engineering, and Analysis Department at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport RI. This multi-disciplinary team is responsible for providing systems safety, environmental qualification testing, and range sustainment in support of undersea warfare systems. Candidates are highly desired with education and experience in engineering fields.

    Essential Functions

    • Edit existing content to conform to relevant guidelines and standards and to maximize clarity.
    • Maintain stylistic, notational, and organizational standards to ensure consistent documentation.
    • Support development of technical reports, procedures, white papers, or other formal documentation with access to appropriate resources such as meeting minutes, requirements documents, drawings, and support from subject matter experts, etc.
    • Write or revise technical material for standardized for technical reports, manuals, briefs, and other documentation.
    • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts to maximize clarity and ensure documents conform to existing guidelines and standards.

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Ability to obtain a Secret DoD clearance
    • Two (2) years of experience providing technical editing/writing

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • Experience specifically with undersea warfare systems and/or environmental qualification testing
    • Ten (10) years of experience providing technical editing/writing
    • Bachelors Degree is a writing, communications, or related field
    • NUWC Division Newport specific experience

    Competencies:

    • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, to all levels of the customer and company leadership.
    • Capable of effectively working and problem solving in both independent and team environments.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
    • Thoroughness and attention to detail

    The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. The employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and must account for the hours in a pay period to maintain full-time status.

    Travel:

    Up to 10% travel may be required.
