Wound Care Services Director directs the programs and staff of the wound care services department. Develops and implements wound care services in accordance with the policies of the hospital and the directives of the medical staff. Being a Wound Care Services Director monitors patient progress and treatment plans. Responsible for the education of clinical staff. Additionally, Wound Care Services Director requires a MD degree. Typically reports to top management. Requires license to practice medicine. The Wound Care Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. 1. Responsible for recruitment, training, evaluation, retention, and disciplinary actions of social services staff members in accordance with Hospital Human Resources policies and procedures;
2. Facilitates social work department functions to be efficient, timely, and effective ensuring that patients’ care needs are met, through the provision of therapy services, discharge planning, and related case management activities;
3. Plans and provides clinical supervision and teaching or as necessary which fosters staff members professional development and increasing social services knowledge base;
4. May provide direct or indirect services to patients, and their families or other caregivers, in accordance with social work standards and ethics;
5. Ensures effective communication between the social services department, staff, and other departments of the organization;
6. Serves as liaison between the organization and external community agencies and facilities;
7. May participate in organizational marketing and other community relations activities as requested;
8. Attends unit meetings and in-services.
Assist Unit Social Workers or Counselors, assuring proper documentation and clarification. Other duties as assigned and/or required.
