Workforce Analyst analyzes and evaluates workforce metrics to improve human resources capacity planning and maximize labor utilization rates. Utilizes hiring, sourcing, attrition, and productivity metrics to provide actionable insights about the current and future states of a workforce. Being a Workforce Analyst applies predictive models and methods to develop short and long-term forecasts. Produces reports and visualizations that provide easy to understand information required for decision making. Additionally, Workforce Analyst typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Workforce Analyst occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Workforce Investment Opportunity Act Director - G133

  • This position is responsible for directing the administration of the Workforce Investment Act for the Columbus Consolidated Government.


    • Develops long-range goals, objectives, and organizational structure for the department.
    • Develops and recommends operating budget; monitors and administers approved budget.
    • Recruits, hires, trains, assigns, supervises and evaluates personnel, monitors, reviews, and communicates the implementation phases of strategic plans to ensure that long-range goals and objectives are met.
    • Coordinates the implementation of the comprehensive one-stop workforce system involving the collaboration of various local agencies in accordance with the Workforce Investment Act, and state and local guidelines.
    • Interprets federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines to insure policies and procedures are in compliance.
    • Implements orientation and ongoing training of board members as necessary.
    • Monitors program progress; presents such information to the Workforce Investment Board.
    • Develops and makes presentations to civic and business associations, elected officials,  meets with community leaders, officials, citizens, and representatives of the news media.
    • Provides leadership in pursuing new funding sources and service strategies in response to business and community needs.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices, including goals setting and program budget development and implementation.
    • Knowledge of budgetary principles and practices.
    • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public funding and finance.
    • Knowledge of the methods and techniques of research, statistical analysis, and report presentation.
    • Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws, local ordinances, and department policies and procedures.
    • Skill in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
    • Skill in problem solving and decision making.
    • Skill in management and supervision.
    • Skill in gathering and analyzing complex data.
    • Skill in operating standard office equipment.
    • Skill in oral and written communication.
    • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
    A Bachelor Degree in Public Administration, Management, Social Sciences or related field is required. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the department in order to direct and coordinate work within the department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

    The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. The employee must occasionally lift light objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

    • Grasping – applying pressure to object with fingers, palm.
    • Handling – picking, holding, or working with whole hand.
    • Hearing 1 – perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, receive information.
    • Hearing 2 – receive detailed information, make discrimination in sound.
    • Kneeling – bending legs at knee to come to rest at knees.
    • Lifting – raising objects from lower to higher position, moving objects side to side, using upper extremities, back.
    • Manual Dexterity – picking, pinching, typing, working with fingers rather than hand.
    • Mental Acuity – ability to make rational decisions through sound logic, deductive reasoning.
    • Pulling - use upper extremities to exert force, haul or tug.
    • Pushing – use upper extremities to press against objects with force, or thrust forward, downward, outward.
    • Reaching – extending hands or arms in any direction.
    • Repetitive Motion – substantial movements of wrists, hands, fingers.
    • Speaking – expressing ideas with spoken word, convey detailed, important instructions accurately, concisely.
    • Standing – for sustained periods of time.
    • Stooping – bending body downward, forward at waist, with full motion of lower extremities and back.
    • Talking 1- expressing ideas by spoken word.
    • Visual Acuity 1 - prepare, analyze data, transcribing, computer terminal, extensive reading.
    • Visual Acuity 2 - color, depth perception, field of vision.
    • Visual Acuity 3 - determine accuracy, neatness, observe facilities/structures.
    • Visual Acuity 5 -close acuity for inspection of small defects, machines, use measurement devices, or fabricate parts.
    • Walking - on foot to accomplish tasks, long distances, or site to site.

    The work is typically performed in an office setting.
