    Job Title: Wood Framer / Drywall Installer
    Employment Type: Full-Time
    FLSA Status: Non-exempt
    Department: Castaway Maui
    Reports To: Superintendent, Project Manager

    Job Summary
    Installing wood framing and fastening drywall boards onto the frames of buildings.

    Essential Duties
    • Measure and mark surfaces to lay out work, according to blueprints or drawings, using tape measures, straightedges or squares, and marking devices.
    • Read blueprints or other specifications to determine methods of installation, work procedures, or material or tool requirements.
    • Fit and fasten wallboard or drywall into position on wood or metal frameworks, using glue, nails, or screws.
    • Hang dry lines to wall moldings to guide positioning of main runners.
    • Measure and cut openings in panels or tiles for electrical outlets, windows, vents, plumbing, or other fixtures, using keyhole saws or other cutting tools.
    • Hang drywall panels on wood frameworks of walls and ceilings in offices, schools, or other large buildings, using lifts or hoists to adjust panel heights when necessary.
    • Assemble or install wood framing or decorative trim for windows, doorways, or vents.
    • Coordinate work with drywall finishers who cover the seams between drywall panels.
    • Install horizontal and vertical metal or wooden studs to frames so that wallboard can be attached to interior walls.
    • Cut metal or wood framing and trim to size, using cutting tools.
    • Cut and screw together wood to make floor or ceiling frames, according to plans for the location of rooms or hallways.
    • Measure and cut lumber, plywood, wooden studs, and other building materials to required sizes.
    • Obey health and safety codes, as well as company's principles.
    • Adhere to and execute established project procedures and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policy.
    • Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans.
    Secondary Duties
    • Apply or mount acoustical tile or blocks, strips, or sheets of shock-absorbing materials to ceilings
    • or walls of buildings to reduce reflection of sound or to decorate rooms.
    • Assisting supervisors with structural design, planning, layout, and installation.
    • Conduct repair work and installation of doors, windows, drywall, cabinets, stairs, and other fixtures as required.
    • Erect and dismantle scaffolds.
    • Cleaning and preparing construction sites.
    • Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
    • Removing hazardous materials from sites.
    • Building and taking down scaffolding and temporary structures.
    • Supervise general construction workers, when required.
    • Attend meetings and workshops.
    • Complete on-the-job training.

    Education

    • This position requires a high school diploma (or GED or high school equivalence certificate) and 3
    • years of previous experience.
