Being a Wood Machine Operator may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Wood Machine Operator relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Overview:
The Machine Operator in the Metal Department will use different equipment to assist with manufacturing, packaging and other steps along the production process. A Machine Operator is expected to safely operate machinery and power tools.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Employees must understand and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
· Maintain good workstation housekeeping.
· Produce with quality and efficiency securing shipments go out on or before committed date.
· Perform autonomous maintenance (Cutting area equipment)
· Operate panel saw for undercuts of door width and length.
· Operate re-rail/re-style equipment (Power Matic Shaper, planner, router, belt sander)
· Operate miter saw.
· Operate KVAL Door machine.
· Provide training to new employees as required.
· Any other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Successful candidates have shown a good performance record
· Working knowledge and experience of production flow and processes
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
Physical Requirements:
· Lift 1-30# frequently (up to 50% in an 8-hour day)
· Lift 30-60# regularly (up to 30% in an 8-hour day)
· Lift 60 # occasionally (up to 25% in an 8-hour day)
· Push/Pull 100# with assistance seldom (up to 13% in an 8-hour day)
· Kneel occasionally (up to 25% in an 8-hour day)
· Squat occasionally (up to 25% in an 8-hour day)
· Stoop frequently (up to 25% in an 8-hour day)
· Work with extended arms seldom (up to 13% in an 8-hour day)
· Stand in one spot for long periods
Education & Experience:
· A High School Diploma or GED certificate
· 2 years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment
· Experience working with Woodworking equipment a plus.
