Women's Athletics Director directs all facets of a university/college's women's athletic program, including intramural and intercollegiate sports. Manages the entire women's coaching staff. Being a Women's Athletics Director schedules use of facilities, transportation, and sporting events. Also responsible for fundraising, publicity, ticket pricing and distribution, and purchase of new equipment. Additionally, Women's Athletics Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Women's Athletics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • Essential Duties
    • Facilitate student interaction and provide opportunities for growth and development through programming.
    • Actively foster an environment within the residence halls which reflect a positive community and which contribute to students’ personal and academic success, using community and student development principles.
    • Coordinate engagement living learning community (LLC) events and initiatives to include cultivating a positive and engaging living environment that fosters a sense of belonging and enables students to build positive relationships with one another; serve as liaison between LLC students, community stakeholders, and department.
    • Advise and train student groups such s the Residence Hall Association.
    • Direct the development of hall learning and social activities using the programming dimensions as established by the department.
    • Plan and implement departmental retreats, campus-wide educational and social programs (Blues Week events, Campus Safety Day, etc.) and hall-wide events to enhance the residential experience and meet student need.
    • Provide oversight to RA programming and educate staff about programming models.
    • Assess the needs of residential students as well as effectiveness of programming (satisfaction surveys, etc.); serve as a resource to residents for programs, potential issues and/or individual concerns.
    • Develop formal and informal relationships with students; communicate effectively with staff and students both verbally and in writing.
    • Provide opportunities, training experiences, and one-to-one contacts that identify and help resolve individual problems and conflicts; assist students in developing skills to address interpersonal conflicts through programming.
    • Set standards shared with other staff for maintaining visibility and availability within the hall, and for initiation of informal contacts with students; regularly visit floors and attend programs and student group meetings, develop strategies for daily interaction with students on a hall, living unit and individual basis.
    • Create and disseminate marketing materials related to programs and initiatives (electronic and print media, bulletin boards, etc.).
    • Serve on-call periods along with other Housing and Residence Life staff; Residence Director would also live in the residence halls.
    • Help students become involved in student organizations through involvement coaching; direct staff efforts in developing student leaders and in supporting student organizations.
    • Provide quality customer service to all residential students, guests, parents, and University employees.
    • Assist in judicial oversight and sanctioning.
    • Serve as departmental representative for summer camps and conferences including contract negotiation, communication with guests, assignments, and facilitating communication with other campus departments.
    • Work with appropriate departmental staff to process billing for summer camps/conferences.
    • Supervise the Summer Camp Assistants/RAs including marketing, recruitment, interviews, and training.
    • Ovesee departmental committees as outlined by the Assistant Director and/or Director; serve on University committees as assigned by the Director.
    • Performs other reasonable duties as assigned by the Director.
    Minimum Qualifications
    Education:
    Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university is required.

    Experience:
    Requires more than 1 year of experience in housing and/or student affairs.
    Job Description Summary
    The Residence Director (RD) develops and administers a comprehensive programming experience that shapes the environment and experiences of the residential population. This includes the planning and implementation of events and initiatives across all residence halls, campus-wide events, learning community oversight, and student group advising. This position requires the Resident Director to reside in their assigned on-campus apartment throughout the term of their appointment.
