Women's Athletics Director directs all facets of a university/college's women's athletic program, including intramural and intercollegiate sports. Manages the entire women's coaching staff. Being a Women's Athletics Director schedules use of facilities, transportation, and sporting events. Also responsible for fundraising, publicity, ticket pricing and distribution, and purchase of new equipment. Additionally, Women's Athletics Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Women's Athletics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Primary Purpose:

    Assist the District Athletic Director in directing and managing the overall program of extracurricular athletics for the district. Work to provide each student with opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity and ensure compliance with all state, Oregon State Athletics Association (OSAA), and local requirements. 

    Qualifications:

    Education/Licensure/ Testing Required/Bonding:

    Master’s degree or higher in from an accredited college or university

    Current Oregon Administrative license issued by Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) preferred or the ability to obtain one

    First Aid and CPR certified

    Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal background check clearance

     

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    Knowledge of overall operations of athletic program

    Knowledge of federal, state, and UIL policies governing athletics

    Ability to implement policy and procedures

    Ability to interpret data

    Ability to manage budget and personnel

    Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

     

    Experience:

    Three years successful teaching and coaching experience

     

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

     

    Program Planning

     

    1. Implement the district equity lens in decision-making, consult with appropriate shareholders before making a decision, and adhere to district policy in all decisions.
    2. Assist in informing and advising principals and coaches regarding league activities, rulings, interpretation, and district committee actions.
    3. Assure compliance with the rules and regulations of the athletic program as established by board policy, administration, and the OSAA.
    4. Collaborate with school staff and school administrators to coordinate all athletic functions such as booster club meetings, athletic banquets, and other athletic meetings.
    5. Collaborate with school staff, coaches, and school administrators to coordinate the purchase, reconditioning, and storage of athletic equipment in compliance with Title IX.
    6. Serve as director of special events and promotions for athletic department.
    7. Work with coaches and school staff to schedule and conduct pre-season meetings for all sports as required by the OSAA and Mt. Hood Conference.
    8. Collaborate with District Athletic Director and District Title IX Officer to conduct program reviews and audits for compliance. 

    Athletic Events

    1. Schedule out-of-town trips and playoff negotiations.
    2. Assist in maintaining records of the district athletic committee actions, rulings, and meetings.
    3. Consult with coaches regarding game schedules and officials’ assignments.
    4. Supervise athletics and select sports programs.
    5. Coordinate all schedules with the school administrators and commissioner of the conference.
    6. Collaborate with school administrators to assign and supervise all gatekeepers and workers for all athletic contests.
    7. Collaborates with school staff and administrators to examine all playing arenas to see if they are available and ready for play.
    8. Obtain and coordinate playing arenas when there are needs for practice and/or to use as game sites.
    9. Coordinate with school staff and administrators to confirm the availability of sports equipment which is needed for the game.
    10. Arrange for payment of all game officials.
    11. Collaborate with school staff and school administrators to arrange for all the change that is needed for all gatekeepers. Make available change boxes, tickets, stamps, etc. which are needed by
    12. Coordinate all tournaments and post-season games with the school staff and school administrator that oversee athletics for the participating school.  
    13. Collaborate with the school administrators and local law enforcement agencies and/or contracted security companies to provide security for athletic contests.
    14. Coordinate the attendance of coaches at coaches’ clinics and workshops.
    15. Coordinate with the sites on any postponement of contests because of weather or other factors.
    16. Collaborates with school staff, coaches, and school administrators to coordinate the preparation for all home contests and events; supervises or directs cleanup after contests.
    17. Collaborate with school staff and coaches to coordinate transportation for all athletic events requiring travel using procedures established by the RSD Transportation Department.
    18. Oversee the scheduling of all athletic programs, including o?cials, transportation, emergency medical personnel and contest management sta?. 

    Student Management

    1. Coordinate with school staff, coaches, and school administrators the welfare of all athletes.
    2. Collaborate with the school staff, coaches, and school administrators to verify the eligibility of all athletes prior to participation. 

    Policy, Reports, and Law

    1. Implement the policies established by Mt Hood Conference and OSAA and, and local board policy in area of athletics.
    2. Compile, maintain, file, and present all reports, records, and other documents as required. 

    Budget and Inventory

    1. Manage the district athletics budget allotment for the district 9-12 athletics programming. 

    Personnel Management

    1. Plan and assist coaches with programs for staff development through meetings and clinics. 

    Other Duties

    1. Maintain confidentiality concerning privileged
    2. Attend all required department meetings and trainings.
    3. Other duties as may be assigned by supervisor

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring of coaches and support staff for assigned area.
