Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Accountability: This position reports to the Production Supervisor - Fabrication
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for welding various metals: stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel.
• Welds and Fabricates custom parts using a variety of machines including but not limited to, Millermatic 250 Mig Welder, Syncrowave 350 LX Tig Welder
• As workload requires, this position may involve other fabrication work in area’s such but not limited to Fastener Insertion Press, Shear, Spot Weld Machine, Auto-weld machine, Milling machine, Deburring, and Sanding Equipment
• Executes to work orders and engineering drawings
• Receives verbal orders to fabricate custom designed parts and products
• Receives written and verbal instruction on priority of orders
• Receives, checks and handles raw material from inventory as needed
• Sets up for daily work according to production schedule and/or verbal instructions
• Checks parts, products and machinery for defects
• Works at different workstations as job requires
• Maintains a clean safe work area
• Moves finished goods to other inventory or work areas
• Assists with special projects as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must supply own basic hand tools
• Must be able to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment
• Able to MIG and TIG weld up to ¼” steel and aluminum.
• Ability to Read and Interpret Quality Documents and Drawings
• Able to perform basic mathematical computations
• Must regularly be able to lift and move from 50 to 100 lbs
• Must be able to tolerate long periods of standing
