Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Primary : - Interpret drawings and sketches. Plan details of working procedure and tools and material requirement.
Performs gas and electric welding in all positions (down-hand, vertical, overhead, etc.). Mark any type and size weld, such as "V", lay, butt, etc.
preheating parts when requires.
Builds up work or defective surfaces. Cleans, grinds and flame anneals parts and welded joints as required. Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
Perform brazing as required. May perform thermi-welding or shielded arc welding as required.
Secondary : - Exercises all safety precautions and makes provisions for handling materials and equipment to and from job site.
Works in the shop of job site.
