Welder jobs in New Orleans, LA
Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Maintenance Dredging I, LLC is seeking experienced Welders to perform essential duties aboard its dredges.
Requirements:
- pass pre-employment drug screen and physical and background check. Must attain or be able to attain your TWIC Card.
- ability to fulfill schedule requirements which vary according to job. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- have reliable transportation for travel to job sites.
- ability to lift/carry 50 to 100 pounds
- withstand constant change of weather conditions
- follow company policy and procedures
- work on unleveled surfaces due to movement of water
- have 1-3 years welding experience, marine industry preferred.
