Welder jobs in Lewiston, ME
Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Required/Preferred Education/Training
Required:
Certificate or Associates Degree in Welding Technology ~orTrade/Vocational School graduate with focus on FCAW or GMAW ~or 1 year FCAW/GMAW welding experience in heavy fabrication industry
Required/Preferred Experience
- Must be able to demonstrate Welding ability/skill during assessment (interview)- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job- FCAW groove welding to U.T Testing standards- Perform Fillet weld tests with the following processes FCAW/GMAW-P to Visual Testing standards- Knowledge of AWS Welding Symbols- Welding equipment setup and operation
