Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Van-Am Defense Systems is a custom manufacturer/fabrication shop located in Waverly, IA. We are seeking strong welding/fabrication candidates to join our outstanding team!
Successful Welders will be responsible for welding components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. This position requires a high level of skill and accuracy, as well as a strong understanding of safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have a solid work history and the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
MIG with some TIG. Carbon and Stainless. Compensation is based upon skill and experience.
Welder Responsibilities:
Shift is Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Overtime opportunities available.
