Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. JOB SUMMARY
Service Technicians perform tanker trailer and truck body alteration, repair and testing services. West-Mark Service Centers are National Board Certified and require team member skills in welding, vehicle mechanics, hydraulics, electrical, etc. Team members progress based on skills, job performance, and attitude.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Repair and Service Functions
1.1. Receives Instructions, prints and work orders.
1.2. Fabricate components as required by cutting, burning and welding various metals.
1.3. Assembles small and large assemblies to drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
1.4. Finishing tasks including basic electrical, plumbing, hydraulics, and safety systems
1.5. Properly documents time and material used on jobs
1.6. Diagnose, repair and install all standard components and systems
1.7. Can read, understand, modify specifications, drawings, bill of materials, and testing documentation.
2. Testing and Certification
2.1. Understands basic industry rules and regulations including DOT, HM183 etc.
2.2. Certified for tank preparation, tank entry, forklift, and other required safety qualifications
3. Material Handling
3.1. Proper part identification including raw material sheet and shape
3.2. Certified Forklift Operator and trained crane operator
3.3. Move and safely handle trailers, parts and material in shop and yard
4. Equipment Operation
4.1. Proper use and maintenance of welders
4.2. Proper use of hand tools, drills, grinders, impact guns
4.3. Proper use of cranes 4.4. Proper use of shop machinery & equipment (as required by work area assignment)
