    SUMMARY

    Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Treasury Manager for its office in Anchorage, AK. The Treasury Manager is responsible for managing and oversight of corporate liquidity, investments, and risk management related to the company's financial activities.  This position provides centralized reporting and tracking of treasury related financial metrics; maintains day-to-day communications with the company’s banking and investment relationships; develops financial strategies related to treasury activities and provides leadership and training as needed to ensure a high level of departmental and subsidiary relations and service while ensuring compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.  The position reports directly to the CFO and is expected to provide leadership, training and guidance to less experienced staff. 

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Actively manage liquidity by overseeing the cash flow process, to include use of the cash forecasting tool including the delivery of information and analysis related to variances in cash in cash projections. 
    • Monitor daily cash positions, deposit, savings and investment accounts, incoming transactions and disbursements.
    • Assist with development, implementation, and oversee compliance with internal corporate policies and procedures to ensure necessary internal controls for all treasury activities including cash management, online banking, payment systems, and cash receipts.
    • Develop effective treasury and cash analytics and reporting tools that reflect best practices and communication to key stakeholders.
    • Work with department and managers to optimize cash flows to vendors with favorable terms, discounts and rebates.
    • Collaborate with other members of the company and accounting/finance team to develop cash flow needs for bidding and project financing purposes as needed.
    • Monitor, analyze and report on investment activities.
    • Work with other departments to establish internal controls and budgets for capital projects and asset purchases. 
    • Oversee compliance with debt covenants, loan programs and other bank requirements.
    • Ensure timely and proper capitalization and distributions from subsidiaries and investments. 
    • Maintain relationships with bank, financing, and investment partners.
    • Administration of banking online platform including adding or deleting users and setting up wire or book transfers.
    • Oversee the extension of credit to customers; process credit applications to ensure timely credit approvals with vendors for key projects.
    • Actively manage the administration function for Purchase Cards and Credit Card Programs for corporate and subsidiary employees.
    • Maintain credit card processing platforms for offices, including compliance functions.  Liaison between local offices and credit card company.
    • Prepares annual treasury budget projections in coordination with other team members, particularly as it relates to interest rates, client service analysis fees, etc.
    • Processes, solves, and answers complex treasury transactions, problems, or inquiries.
    • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple variables in non-standardized situations.
    • Maintains advanced knowledge and awareness of financial status and trends.
    • Assists the Chief Financial Officer with special projects, data gathering, and report preparation as requested.
    • Assumes responsibility for various department functions in the absence of staff members or in overload situations and works with others in the department to provide appropriate cross-training to ensure adequate coverage of critical duties.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

    Required (Minimum) Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or other relevant work experience.
    • 8 years of treasury or similar type experience.
    • Prior experience with bank and debt markets.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

    • Ability to understand and analyze financial statements, including cash flows.
    • Strong analytical and MS Excel skills required.
    • Experience with various types of investments preferred.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working with Alaska Native Corporations
    • Experience with Costpoint, Banking Applications, and other ad hoc software applications.

    Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • No current supervisory responsibilities. 

     

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS  

    As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
