Waste Water Treatment Technician ensures that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment and other waste water treatment equipment are functioning properly. Monitors equipment for potential failures and may make minor repairs or adjustments as needed. Being a Waste Water Treatment Technician collects water samples for chemical analysis. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Technician typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Waste Water Treatment Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Job Summary:
The Waste Water Maintenance Technician oversees and performs a variety of skilled work in the maintenance, alteration, and repair of city electrical/mechanical systems, and performs related work as required. Work is performed under the general direction of the Utility Superintendent and does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Salary:
$16.45 - $20.56 depending upon qualifications and experience

Work will frequently be exposed to outdoor elements, and may include extreme temperatures, hot and cold, and wet and/or humid conditions. The work environment may include exposure to drafts, loud noise, dust, grease, and occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, raw sewage and risk of electrical shock. Work may occasionally take place in high, precarious places, confined spaces or open trenches.
Tasks require ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, work in low light conditions, and typically involve some combination of walking, sitting, or standing for extended periods of time, balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motion, and mental and visual acuity.
