Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises the operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and reporting practices. Oversees sampling and testing systems, and the testing and maintenance of pumps, conveyors, blowers, and other equipment. Being a Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager ensures staff is up-to-date with all federal, state, and local regulations and environmental guidelines. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or other tech degree. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager typically reports to a manager or director. The Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Experience and Qualifications:
1. Operator certifications preferred; Wastewater Treatment Plant Operation license - grade 2 or above and/or a Valid NYS Water Treatment Operation license - grade C, D or above.
2. Must hold valid Driver's License.
3. Preferred experience operating water or wastewater treatment plants, with experience in one or more of the following treatment processes desired: activated sludge, membrane bio reactor (MBR), sequential batch reactor (SBR), rotating biological contactor (RBC), tertiary treatment including microfiltration. Water Treatment Plant process experience must include filtration, disinfection via chlorination or ultraviolet.
4. Must be physically able and capable of standing, kneeling, and walking for prolonged periods. Must be able to regularly lift more than 50 pounds.
5. Preferably able to operate and understand SCADA and HMI applications.
6. Must be familiar with maintenance and upkeep of water and/or wastewater treatment equipment including pumps, blowers, chart recorders, flowmeters, gauges, etc.
Job Duties:
1. Must be prepared to work in a team environment and maintain frequent communication with co-workers and management. Any abnormalities at a facility should be immediately reported to the supervisor.
2. Must be available to work weekends, overtime as needed, and on-call.
3. Applicants are expected to maintain organized operational and maintenance records.
4. Applicants must maintain cleanliness of facilities at all times.
5. Must perform & maintain an orderly and neat preventative maintenance schedule that includes but is not limited to: greasing bearings & pumps, replacing blower air filters, documenting equipment runtimes & oil change schedules, cleaning tanks, changing filters.
6. Must ensure all lab equipment is in good working order and calibrated on an as-required basis by the manufacturer.
7. Must maintain and document inventory for all facilities including chemical inventory, spare parts inventory, pump & related equipment inventory and report to the supervisor monthly.
