Department: Material Handling

Summary: This position is responsible for supervising workers engaged in the second shift operation for Material Handling operations. In addition, this position is responsible for storing and maintaining products, supplying the Production with Material, by directing the efforts of his/her team and creating and executing work instructions in the distribution process.

Essential Functions of the Job: The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the following:

• Direct and control all warehouse and material handling activities.
• Manage, lead, motivate and train personnel in the Material Handler area in accordance with organizational polices and applicable laws. Exhibit confidence in self and staff.
• Resolve interdepartmental issues, accept feedback, and give recognition.
• Manage Timecards and do actions if necessary.
• Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary measures.
• Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals.
• Interpret company and department policies to workers and ensure personnel to comply.
• Estimate staffing requirements for a given project, based on work orders, job specifications, and experience.
• Participate in the hiring process by reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, or making hiring decisions or recommendations.
• Maintain a safe working environment by monitoring safety procedures and equipment.
• Understand, apply and train the principles of LEAN Manufacturing.
• Ensure a just-in-sequence material supply to the production lines at any given time.
• Ensure to continuously improve logistics related processes by establishing and maintaining an efficient and effective Shop Floor Management system.
• Hold shop floor meetings.
• Establish and maintain operational procedures for all activities performed in the Material Handling department.
• Direct reclamation of damaged merchandise and work with the Quality department to resolve quality issues.
• Ensure all material movement activities and transactions are performed accurately and timely.
• Ensure on time delivery and correct packaging, material methods are utilized on all production orders.
• Use the following software programs when performing this job, e.g. (but not limited to) AS400, Microsoft Office Suite.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Recommended Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelors Degree in a related field; or minimum five years related experience; or combination of education and related experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 per year
