Plasma/Oxy Fuel Table Operator

Established in 1972 by James “Earl” Boykin, the company started in Pooler, Georgia with only

one truck, one welding machine, and six employees. The company moved to Jesup in 1973 to

help with the expansion of a local mill. In 1975, James W. Boykin took over through 2001. It

was a small 2500 ft. fab shop that maintained up to 200 employees at one time and expanded

its facilities to what they are today. In 2000, James L. “Jimbo” Boykin took over as president

and is still in charge of all day-to-day operations and strives to continue the family’s

Boykin Erectors is currently looking for a Plasma/Oxy Fuel Table Operator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / SKILLS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Read blueprints and determine measurements to the 16th
• Ability to run overhead crane and safely operate machines
• Know weight of cut part and determine weight of raw material components in order
• Experience with 3 and 5 axis plasma and oxy fuel tables
• Material handling experience.
• Plasma table maintenance experience.
• Perform daily operational checks and perform cleanup at beginning and end of

shifts

• Make minor adjustments to programs
• Ability to meet production schedule
• Download programs via disc, flash drive or direct connect
• Perform cuts and required nesting as defined by production
• Accurate completion of work order based on production schedule
• Ability to read operator’s book and make appropriate parts correctly
• Change all parts in plasma and torch head
• Troubleshoot Plasma to Operators level
• Extensive knowledge of operator’s manual
• Prepare recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality
• Demonstrate leaderships skills by leading and managing a work-cell operation
• Computer skills required.
• ProNest programming skills
• AutoCAD knowledge a plus

WORK CONDITIONS:

• Environment is that of a heavy industrial work site
• Outdoor elements are a factor
• Exposure to air particles, such as dust and weld smoke
• Exposure to loud, penetrating noises in some work areas
• Proper personal protective equipment is required at all times, such as but not

limited to, steel toed or metatarsal boots, ear plugs/earmuffs, safety glasses

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to read, comprehend and write English at an advanced level
• Intermediate math skills (fraction/ decimal calculations)
• Previous work experience in a heavy industrial or construction environment is

preferred; however, it is not a requirement

• Knowledge of various types of construction and or heavy equipment operation

preferred; however, it is not a requirement

Job Type: Full-time

Starting Pay: $18.00 – $23.00 – hour based on experience.
