SUMMARY:
Plans, coordinates, supervises, and reports the welding and fabrication of products in support of the Master Production Schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Department Management

Supports the vision of the company.

Personnel

Oversees employee training to all applicable company requirements.

Interviews candidates for employment and performs hiring decisions.

Sets and enforces departmental performance expectations.

Evaluates and documents the performance of direct reports.

Promotes and maintains an environment that motivates workers to achieve company goals.

Analyzes and resolves work-related problems.

Performs all other personnel management activities as assigned.
Production
-
Maintains competency in all area work functions and reporting.
-
Coordinates with scheduling to develop and update department production schedules.
-
Continuously analyzes and maintains area staffing needs.
-
Assists the Plant Manager with development and implementation of metrics.
-
Meets and exceeds department metrics as assigned.
-
Develops and/or maintains a ‘Can Do’ attitude and culture within the department.
-
Manages resource needs to maintain/improve departmental efficiency, productivity and quality.

Oversees the accurate and efficient flow of traceability and quality documentation.
-
Coordinates with other department team leads on production activities.
-
Oversees the accurate reporting of employee time and clocking operations.
-
Maintains the department resources in an organized manner according to 5S principles.
-
Assists in monitoring and controlling production costs through assignment of personnel.
- Maintains product quality through in-process inspection and other applicable documentation.

Oversees department equipment maintenance plans and implementation.
-
Oversees safe implementation of machinery, tools, and equipment within the department.
-
Updates process flow and equipment location for most effective and efficient department work.
Safety & Hazardous Materials
- Oversees production work is performed to company safety programs and policies

Ensures hazardous materials are controlled in accordance with company safety programs and policies
-
Schedules and ensures required participation in all required annual employee safety training.
- Enforces the proper reporting of safety-related incidents and injuries.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Degree from two-year or four-year college or technical school preferred. Minimum of 15 years direct welding and fabrication industry experience. The individual must have strong leadership skills with a minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience in heavy welding and fabrication.
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Experience hiring, training, growing, team building and leading a minimum of 30 employees in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Ability to perform employee performance reviews, establish training and growth plans for individuals.
- Ability to develop and maintain project schedules, assign resources, track and maintain.
- Strong critical thinking, planning and communication skills.

Design / set up work cells and understanding of fixtures and tooling used in complex fabrication.

Working knowledge of semi-automatic, automated welding equipment using in cutting, forming, welding and grinding.
- Heavy lift and rigging experience with ability to evaluate safety significant requirements and practices.
- ASME Vessel and piping experience in Carbon, Stainless, Aluminum and Nickel Alloy.
- Strong working knowledge of ASME, AWS and similar weld processes and procedures

Salary: between $75,000 - $100,000 DOE
