Volunteer Coordinator supervises and leads the daily undertakings of a volunteer program to attract, inspire, train, and deploy volunteers. Leads the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of volunteer workers. Being a Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for training and educating volunteers. Motivates and inspires volunteers to encourage teamwork. Additionally, Volunteer Coordinator evaluates and reviews volunteer schedules and makes adjustments as necessary. Ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Volunteer Coordinator supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Primary Purpose:
Provide assistance in classroom, office, and/or school facilities under the direct supervision of a certified teacher or employee of HISD. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing activities.
Education/Certification:
At least 16 years of age.
Have met formal academic assessment, NCCER and/or OSHA preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with children and adults.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Experience:
Some experience working with children is preferred.
