Volunteer Coordinator supervises and leads the daily undertakings of a volunteer program to attract, inspire, train, and deploy volunteers. Leads the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of volunteer workers. Being a Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for training and educating volunteers. Motivates and inspires volunteers to encourage teamwork. Additionally, Volunteer Coordinator evaluates and reviews volunteer schedules and makes adjustments as necessary. Ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Volunteer Coordinator supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Volunteer Coordinator typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     Responsibilities of a Volunteer Coordinator:

    • Source and recruit volunteers through various techniques
    • Collect information on availabilities and skills
    • Arrange appropriate trainings when needed
    • Produce schedules for activities in coordination with the Activity Director
    • Assign responsibilities to the right people for special events in coordination the the Activity Director
    • Communicates frequently with volunteers to ensure that they are satisfied and well placed, ensure that Volunteers are recognized for their work
    • Disseminate information about upcoming events and needs to our Elders
    • Keep detailed records of volunteer's information and assignments, including but not limited to tracking hours
    • Work with staff, new groups and volunteers to develop new events to enrich the lives of the Elders in our care
    • Work with the Philanthropy department to attract new talent and offer assistance through volunteers for major events
    • Implement trainings and orientation for all new volunteers
    • Coordinate and work with the meaningful life coordinator to enrich the lives of the Elders at the Green House homes.
    • Participate in meetings including department head, safety, and Quality Improvement.
    • Assist with facility special events including employee recognition, Saint Elizabeth Community events, Rosebids, annual meeting, and others as requested by the Administrator.
    • Coordinate and meet monthly with the friends group. Help this group to decide the course of action that they would like to take over the next month.

    Qualifications for a Volunteer Coordinator:

    • Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • One year of relevant experience preferred.
    • One year of experience in a long term care setting preferred.
