Coordinates the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of volunteer workers. Being a Volunteer Coordinator - Hospice assists with the training and scheduling of volunteer workers and provides immediate support and guidance on issues or questions. Motivates and inspires volunteers to encourage teamwork. Additionally, Volunteer Coordinator - Hospice ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization. Responsibilities:
- Provide companionship and emotional support to individuals in need
- Assist with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication reminders
- Engage in meaningful conversations and activities with residents or clients
- Help create a safe and comfortable environment for those under your care
- Collaborate with staff members to ensure the well-being of residents or clients
- Respect and uphold resident rights and confidentiality
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in hospice care, caregiving, or senior care is preferred
- Knowledge of resident rights and home care practices is a plus
- Ability to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with individuals facing physical or cognitive challenges
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Sensitivity towards working with people on the autism spectrum is desirable
