Motivates and inspires volunteers to encourage teamwork. Additionally, Volunteer Coordinator - Hospice ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization.     Position Overview Volunteer Coordinator :

    • Represent Empyrean Hospice with the utmost professionalism and compassion
    • Develop and maintain the volunteer training and orientation program
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
    • Recruit, educate, and coordinate volunteers from recurring recruitment sessions
    • Establish volunteer services needs with the patient and family / caregiver and entire hospice interdisciplinary team
    • Provide hospice education and the volunteer role in hospice to the community and prospective volunteers
    • Maintain monthly statistics, personnel files, budget adherence, and documentation
    • Ensure standards of ethical business and clinical practice are prioritized

    Position Qualifications

    • Professionalism, compassion, empathy, and a desire to help others
    • Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision, yet also as member of a complete care team
    • College degree, advanced degree in human services preferred
    • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a health care setting, hospice and / or volunteer experience preferred
    • Understands the hospice philosophy and end-of-life care
    • Ability to organize, supervise, and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs
    • Ability to manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time and who will be considered employees
    • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication, and organization skills
    • Computer proficient with Microsoft suite
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
    • Must possess a willingness to maintain comprehensive working knowledge regarding information systems and applicable software programs
