Voice Communications Manager is responsible for managing the policies and procedures of voice communications. Ensures uninterrupted access to all voice telecommunication features including voicemail, ACD or PBX systems. Being a Voice Communications Manager oversees the design and implementation of voice telecommunications networks. Selects vendors and negotiates contracts. Additionally, Voice Communications Manager reviews reports on system specifications in support of system upgrades and makes final decision regarding updates. Involved in long-range or strategic voice communications plans. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a top management. The Voice Communications Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager.     Job Profile Summary

    The Senior Program Manager of the Voice Center and Professional Voice Speech Language Pathologist reports to the Executive Director, is responsible for the development and growth of the Voice Center within the Department of Otolaryngology. He/she oversees program management in key projects and operational functions. Working with the Laryngologist, Chair and Executive Director he/she is responsible for the organization and oversight of project timelines and deliverables, assignment and management of staffing effort, and is the point of contact with funding agencies and collaborators. On a day-to-day basis, he/she will provide management across the Voice Center to maintain efficient and effective functioning across multiple projects. This position is also responsible for overseeing operation of Voice Center meetings and training activities and supervision of administrative staff member(s). He/she is responsible for evaluating and treating problems relating to speech, language, and communication disorders for patients evaluated within the Department of Otolaryngology. He/she is responsible for evaluation, treatment and management of patients under joint care with the Laryngologist. Responsible for developing an appropriate treatment plan which may include recommendations for therapeutic intervention, patient and family counseling and education, development of a home treatment program, and when appropriate, referrals for further consultations.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Program Management:

    1. Provides management level support and guidance to the Laryngologist, Chair and Executive Director and participate in strategic planning initiatives for the Voice Center.

    2. Provides management level support to continuously grow the program and work closely with the Laryngologist, Chair and Executive Director in program awareness and patient access across Tufts Medicine and to external referring providers and programs.

    3. Proactively coordinate with referring colleges and theatre programs in the community to provide Voice Center program support and resources. Responsible for measuring patient volume, referral trends and lead strategic growth opportunities.

    4. Responsible for creating, documenting and reporting on center of excellence requirements for Voice Center designation, as required.

    5. Responsible for collaborating with leaders within the Department of Otolaryngology and across the medical system to best support the Voice Center within an academic medicine setting.

    6. Responsible for facilities management of space, including assisting with planning and execution of renovations, space assignments, furnishings and equipment needs.

    7. Responsible for all Voice Center information presented at staff meetings and faculty meetings.

    8. Responsible for initiating and/or participating in research projects, as required.

    9. Responsible for performing related bookkeeping duties. Make requests for therapy materials as necessary.

    10. Responsible for participating in in-service training of medical residents, students, nurses, and paramedical personnel.

    11. Responsible for assisting in the training and orientation of new personnel. 12. Responsible for monitoring individual workloads and assisting the administrative coordinator in scheduling sufficient clinical activity in order to meet workload requirement.

    Professional Voice Speech Language Pathologist:

    1. Based on behavioral observations, a complete case history from the patient and/or the family, and the results of standardized tests, is responsible for evaluating the status of the patient/client and making a diagnosis using accepted professional standards and individual experience and judgement.

    2. Responsible for making a recommendation which may include therapy, referrals for further consultations, extended speech and language evaluations, or suggestions for a home training program monitored by the clinician.

    3. Responsible for preparing complete written reports of evaluations and progress of individual cases.

    4. Responsible for conducting individual or group speech and language therapy, as necessary, based on the diagnostic evaluation of the patient.

    5. Responsible for providing counseling services to patients/clients and their families in order to discuss diagnoses, treatment recommendations, progress, and/or problems.

    6. Responsible for selecting the appropriate tests, measures, and rehabilitation services, and providing these in a consistent, efficient manner of high quality patient care

    7. Responsible for all individual client follow-up procedures: communicating with professionals, other disciplines, and businesspersons serving the client, and providing information to various social agencies, which may be involved.

    8. Responsible for participating in regularly held staff conferences, to determine and reassess treatment goals and progress; and for attending family conferences to keep the family abreast of progress and problems.

    9. Responsible for participating in interdisciplinary and family conferences with other professionals serving the patient in order to coordinate services.

    10. Responsible for keeping abreast of current literature in the field and for acquiring the knowledge and skills regarding new tests, instruments, machines, etc. in the field.

    11. Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of the patient care program and devices available to patients.

    Performs other job related duties, as required or requested.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    1. Proficiency with MS Office, including the ability to develop spreadsheets, presentations and reports, and overall computer proficiency required.

    2. Excellent organizational skills and superb attention to detail

    3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure clear and consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders.

    4. Excellent judgment, highly professional manner with an ability to maintain sensitivity, confidentiality, and tactfulness.

    5. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and strengthen positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and staff, solid customer service orientation and ability to work in a team setting

    6. Ability to identify issues and implement effective resolution strategies to ensure smooth coordination of program and project requirements

    7. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete assignments in a timely manner required.

    8. Must be able to work in deadline situations. Supervisory experience preferred.

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:

    1. Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

    2. Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and license from Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

    EXPERIENCE:

    3-5 years of Professional Voice Speech Language Pathologist and program management experience.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Normal office working conditions exposure to patients.
