Summary
Serves corporate Telecom \ voice network functions by providing the Planning, Design, Procurement and Implementation. Telecom Manager plans, devises, builds, configures and commission telecommunications equipment, networks, and systems, including voice/PBX, voice recording, failure, etc. Identify the requirements and determine the cost of equipment, devices, and services. Assess and obtain new services and products from vendors and providers. Choose and develop new telecommunication sites, prepare specifications, drawings, and procedures for the use of telecommunications equipment, and decide on the type and arrangement of, circuits, transmission lines, equipment.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Achieves network design and operational objectives by designing and engineering, evaluating, recommending, formulating, testing, and implementing plans for current and new Telecommunication & Voice technology.
- Maintain records on installation, resolution of issues, and replacement of equipment and parts. Identify the telecommunication requirements of the organizations and recommend purchases accordingly.
- Be in touch with all the latest developments in telecommunication technology (IP, Cloud, etc)
- Develop telecommunications policies and procedures and their best practices for NJT and also ensure that the practices comply with the federal government regulations.
- Calculate performance levels of system software and hardware to anticipate future requirements. Develop short-term and long-term plans for increasing capabilities, improving existing systems, and updating equipment in order to provide better telecommunications.
- Monitor the performance of subordinate team members in their daily activities. Delegate tasks and provide training to new employees, besides providing training on new telecommunication equipment to existing personnel.
- Prepare the budget for the organizations’ telecommunications needs.
- Resolving Telecommunications Network issues; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
- Hands on Knowledge on the Telecom, Voice platforms/technologies required.
- Develop schedules and work plans for newly planned and/or upgraded network locations.
- Provide 3rd level Telecom Network support and be the subject matter expert for high level telecom issue resolution
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

- Voice Engineers (Employees) & Voice Engineers (Contractors)
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 5 years’ work experience in a Telecommunications network engineering or operations’ function
- Experience in Telecommunications Network Maintenance, Telecom Network Design and Implementation, Building Relationships, Resolving Conflict, Project Management, assist in developing Budgets, Promoting Process Improvement, Voice Network Systems, and Telecommunications Network Hardware Configuration.
Knowledge and Skills
- Must be computer literate and possess a strong knowledge of Voice networking equipment. Needs to be a problem-solver and demonstrate excellent multitasking abilities.
- Engineering, Project management and documentation utilizing various tool including MS Project, Visio, Office suite, etc.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communications
- CCNP desired.
