Support Analyst

  • GENERAL PURPOSE:

    The Support Analyst is responsible for supporting and responding to the Center’s customer service requests, break fix, and problem resolution of issues.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Use Service Desk tools and resources to provide customer service and problem resolution.
    • Install, assemble, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network services as it relates to the desktops, servers, printers, and mobile computing environment.
    • Update, modify, and create knowledge base articles and documentation for troubleshooting activities in a timely manner.
    • Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
    • Prioritize and respond to incidents escalated from the Service Desk.
    • Perform computer diagnostics and repairs via phone, chat, remote control, or in person.
    • Record and maintain the Center’s hardware and software asset information.
    • Assist with the testing, research, and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware systems.
    • Perform monitoring, alerting, and resolution of all mission critical services.
    • Troubleshoot, resolve, and conduct high-level root-cause analysis of support issues and service interruptions.
    • Assist in the development and delivery of training sessions to end-users, promoting self-help resources and proactive problem resolution.
    • Understand and abide by current Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) security policy as it relates to system security and CJIS data.
    • Assists in other areas within the Technical Department and Facilities as needed, maintain understanding of various areas with the department and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
    • Performs related work, special projects or other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of systems administration, virtualization, PowerShell scripting, and M365.
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for integrating system components.
    • Knowledge and ability to apply troubleshooting techniques.
    • Knowledge and understanding of cybersecurity.
    • Skilled at conducting root-cause analysis.
    • Skilled with troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and applications.
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Self-motivated, able to perform tasks, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical employees.

    · Ability to learn new technologies and assimilate new information quickly.

    • Ability to create clear and concise technical documents that adhere to established standards.
    • Ability to handle and manage multiple projects, assignments, and priorities.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision both independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to work in a highly fluid environment, with rapidly changing requirements.
    • Ability to respond to crisis situations in a methodical way and prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Ability to become familiar with, follow, and support the Center’s mission, vision, and guiding principles.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    · Three (3) years of experience in support analyst, service desk, or equivalent field.

    OR;

    • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience which would demonstrate the individual’s knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Professional certification such as A

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION:

    • ACCESS certification within 30 days
    • Washington State driver’s license

    Work is performed in a typical office environment, which includes a technical workstation, a computer room with a controlled environment, as well as working with internal and external customers onsite. The noise level is usually moderate with frequent interruptions. Ability to travel, sometimes overnight by car or aircraft.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; use dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computers, keyboards, handle or feel; and talk and hear. The employee is required to type on keyboard for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk, reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, and or push up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to see, specifically to include up close, distance, color, and peripheral; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
