POSITION SUMMARY: Bob Jones University Division of Music seeks to hire a voice professor with a Christian worldview for a full-time appointment. The successful candidate will be a ministry-minded leader and pedagogue who will show a commitment to the mission of BJU and the Division of Music and will contribute proactively to the spiritual, intellectual and artistic life of this Christian liberal arts university.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach undergraduate courses in applied voice from a biblical worldview.
• Other teaching responsibilities may include conducting choral ensembles and/or teaching voice literature, vocal pedagogy, diction, opera workshop, musical theatre workshop, music technology, ear training, music theory, or other topics according to academic qualifications and experience.
• Collaborate with others within the academic school, division, and department.
• Actively recruit prospective students for the Division of Music.
• Actively engage in professional development related to the position.
• Actively maintain a professional profile through engagements as lecturer, writer, or guest performer.
• Actively serve the local church and community.
• Other duties may include advising students on academic matters, leading studio performance classes, performing in faculty ensembles, and performing service duties as needed within the program, division or academic school.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Advanced degree in voice performance or comparable field; doctorate preferred (ABD considered).
• Successful record of teaching/performing experience at the collegiate level or at levels appropriate to departmental needs.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Display the ability to communicate at a high level musically, verbally and in written communication.
• Display the ability to collaborate successfully with other musicians in professional and personal interactions including rehearsals and performances.
• Display the ability to apply principles of voice literature, pedagogy, and performance at a high level.
• Exhibit a refined level of excellence in personal performance.
• Express a mature philosophy of music and music making from a Christian worldview.
