Vocational Rehabilitation/Employment Services Coordinator

  • The Vocational Rehabilitation/Employment Services (VR/ES) Coordinator will act as the primary liaison and manager for all Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Services programs under Opportunity Now's Adult Services Division. The VR/ES Coordinator works with and under the direct supervision of the Director of Adult Services and the Executive Management Team to support comprehensive programs intended to engage a diverse population of individuals. These programs promote self-sufficiency and enrich the lives of participants with various backgrounds through career opportunities that lead to an enhanced quality of life.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor?s degree in education, social work, psychology, rehabilitation services, or related disciplines, with two (2) years of direct supervisory or management experience.
    • Three (3) years of work experience in a human services field, education, or career/employment counseling or related field.
    • Experience developing and managing budgets, hiring, and training, supervising and assessing personnel.
    • Must have strong and polished interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
    • Must be highly organized and able to work well with others.
    • Experience planning events; experience with curriculum planning and implementation.
    • Must have reliable, independent transportation and be willing to travel.
    • Must be able to pass a background check

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Follow established policies and procedures for maintaining the integrity of the program and ensure those policies are being implemented among staff.
    • Assist in the development of short and long-term plans for programs, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
    • Assist in design of performance objectives and implement and monitor programming to meet desired outcomes.
    • Support planning and coordination of a program and its activities.
    • Develop yearly outreach plan according to program needs and capacity.
    • Ensure that databases are maintained, which includes keeping participant and prospect information and mailing list updated.
    • Supervise Employment Specialists, Classroom Instructors and Program Assistants by articulating expectations, displaying model behavior, maintaining open lines of communication and being clear about roles and relationships.
    • Organize training seminars to address staff needs and identify relevant external training opportunities.
    • Assist with the development of program marketing and communications strategies to support program goals and increase community awareness.
    • Develop specific job opportunities that match the participants? skills, work experience, related training and interests.
    • Screen and match Opportunity Now participants with employment opportunities based on their skills, work experience, hobbies and interests.
    • Maintain relationships with existing employers and establish relationships with new employers who are willing to hire Opportunity Now participants.
    • Maintain budget and track expenditures/transactions.
    Skills and Competencies
    • Knowledge of principles and practices related to work readiness and life skills, educational issues, community services, or adult workforce development.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer applications and database management.
    • Able to work with a variety of populations, including returning citizens and individuals with disabilities.
    • Creative, strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects.
    • Flexible; possessing the ability to wear different hats on short notice.
    Physical and Mental
    • Work assignment travel required.
    • Regularly required to sit, prolonged standing, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, and other office equipment.
    • Work in an office and classroom environment engaging with multiple personality types in conjunction with cultural differences and learning styles.
    • Work with a variety of populations, including at-risk youth and adults, and individuals with disabilities.
    • Be Open to Off-Topic Conversations at proper times for discussion and building a rapport with students (ex. Politics, Current Events, Life)
