Visitor Research Analyst - Museum evaluates and researches visitor experiences, learning, exhibition, program etc. Utilizes findings to inform appropriate exhibit and improve museum program development. Prepares visitors reports and technical papers to suggest enhanced innovative learning environments for museum. Being a Visitor Research Analyst - Museum requires a master's degree of social science or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or a manager. The Visitor Research Analyst - Museum gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Visitor Services Assistant

  • POSITION PURPOSE

    The primary purpose of the Visitor Services Assistant is ensuring a high-quality visitor experience at the front desk and assisting with the Museum & Theatre operations. This position reports to the Visitor Services Manager.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure all visitors feel welcome- fostering a sense of belonging & joy
    • Represent Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine to all visitors in a lively, play-based environment
    • Respond to visitor questions and provide appropriate information about the Museum & Theatre and the surrounding area
    • Perform cash and credit transactions for admissions, memberships, event ticketing, etc.
    • Open and close register & front desk
    • Promote and take reservations for performances and workshops
    • Answer the main phone line and respond to the front desk email account
    • Maintain cleanliness of lobby and front desk areas including management of Lost & Found
    • Promote and sell memberships to families and organizations
    • Staff after-hours events as needed
    • Perform other duties as identified by supervisor
    • Participate in annual self-evaluation & review

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Incredible customer service skills
    • Enjoy working with children and families
    • Comfortable working in a high noise environment, that includes an indoor playground
    • Ability to switch between tasks fluidly
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Point of Sale systems is a plus
    • The availability to work on weekends
    • ESOL Level 2

    SCHEDULE

    16 hours per week

    Friday & Saturday, typically 8:30-4:30

    Substitute coverage (as needed)

    VACATION

    One hour paid vacation for every forty hours worked.

    COMPENSATION

    $18.01 / hour

    CMTM has an equitable system of pay that offers a base rate based on position, longevity pay increases over time, merit based raise opportunities, and cost of living base wage updates. This system is designed for equity and as such we do not have the ability to negotiate the compensation listed above.
