Veterinary Technician jobs in Saco, ME

MFVH is seeking an EXPERIENCED veterinary technician or veterinary assistant to join our privately owned practice. EXPERIENCE IS A MUST. Many of our clients have been with us for generations because our employees love what they do and are known for being compassionate, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Candidate needs to be reliable, able to consistently work scheduled hours, and have the ability to be self motivated, multitask and interact with clients and their pets. Willingness to work in a group setting is essential, as we are a small team.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the veterinarian in the exam room with examinations, vaccinations, blood draw and euthanasia
• Help educate the clients
• Perform receptionist duties such as answering the phone, scheduling appointments and invoicing clients
• Help keep the hospital clean and the appointments running smoothly and on time
• Restrain animals during examinations or vaccinations
• Assist in radiology
• Assist with emergencies and euthanasia
• Other related duties may be assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the practice

Skills:

• Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant
• Excellent communication skills
• Patient and caring personality
• Ability to follow instructions
• Self motivated and organized
• Works well with a team
• Observant
• Comfortable being around animals (cats, dogs)
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
• Availability to occasionally work in emergencies
• Experience in an administrative role is a plus
• Knowledge of Cornerstone is beneficial
• High school diploma required
• Veterinary Technician License valued

Salary

• Based on experience, education and licensing

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 18 – 38 per week
