Veterinary Technician assists veterinarian with exams, surgeries, and first aid. Collects and documents case history and treatment details. Being a Veterinary Technician monitors vital signs and condition of animals being treated and provides nursing care. Takes X rays, EKG, Ultrasound, and performs various lab test including urinalysis and blood counts. Additionally, Veterinary Technician depending on state regulations, may administer anesthesia, injections, and perform dental prophylaxis, catheterization, and other procedures under supervision of a veterinarian. Instructs pet owners on how to administer medication and other animal care skills. Typically requires an associate degree. Depending on state, may require RVT certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Veterinary Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Our radiology suite includes a CT scanner that accommodates giant breed dogs, state of the art Samsung ultrasound, and a Sound DR x-ray. Our surgical suite offers Ligasure vessel sealing, which is used on all spay procedures, advanced orthopedic procedures such as TPLOs with Stryker saws and drills, and a full Stryker tower for laparoscopic and arthroscopic minimally invasive procedures. Our dentistry suite includes 15-second full-mouth CT scans for 3D root evaluation, IM3 Vet-Tome, and end-tidal CO2 monitoring for all anesthesia. We perform minimally invasive cryosurgery on pets, allowing dermal mass removals using local anesthetic. Our rehabilitation options include high and low-powered cold laser as well as an underwater treadmill. We have in-house cremation services via eco-friendly Aquamation, and a team dedicated to aftercare with personalized laser-engraved pet memorial keepsakes.
Offerings:
We support our community through partnerships with local law enforcement, offering gold standard care to all working K9s. We currently serve more than 4 departments and their K9 partners in this role. We work together with the Carson City Sheriff's Office to provide free education to our community with pet first aid trainings biannually.
