Veterinary Technician assists veterinarian with exams, surgeries, and first aid. Collects and documents case history and treatment details. Being a Veterinary Technician monitors vital signs and condition of animals being treated and provides nursing care. Takes X rays, EKG, Ultrasound, and performs various lab test including urinalysis and blood counts. Additionally, Veterinary Technician depending on state regulations, may administer anesthesia, injections, and perform dental prophylaxis, catheterization, and other procedures under supervision of a veterinarian. Instructs pet owners on how to administer medication and other animal care skills. Typically requires an associate degree. Depending on state, may require RVT certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Veterinary Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Orion Veterinary Clinic is a mixed animal veterinary clinic serving the Quad City area. We provide high quality veterinary care for livestock, horses, companion animals and some exotics. We are searching for a full time Veterinary Technician to join our fast paced growing practice. Our current staff consists of one full time veterinarian, a part time equine veterinarian, and a team of experienced technicians. The clinic is open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, 8 am to Noon on Saturday and closed on Sunday. Patients are seen by appointment only with the expectation of emergencies. Veterinary Technician are expected to work a 4-day workweek and some Saturdays.
