Veterinary Technician assists veterinarian with exams, surgeries, and first aid. Collects and documents case history and treatment details. Being a Veterinary Technician monitors vital signs and condition of animals being treated and provides nursing care. Takes X rays, EKG, Ultrasound, and performs various lab test including urinalysis and blood counts. Additionally, Veterinary Technician depending on state regulations, may administer anesthesia, injections, and perform dental prophylaxis, catheterization, and other procedures under supervision of a veterinarian. Instructs pet owners on how to administer medication and other animal care skills. Typically requires an associate degree. Depending on state, may require RVT certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Veterinary Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Grant Veterinary Clinic is a busy growing small animal clinic located in Grove, OK on beautiful Grand Lake. We are open Monday thru Friday 8 am to 5 pm. We are looking for a qualified experienced veterinary technician/assistant to assist in our in-house and online pharmacy and client check outs. Job descriptions include but not limited to:
Communication skills both in person and on the phone. This position requires a lot of personal interaction with the client regarding the best possible care for their pet. A strong personality is necessary to be able to communicate discharge instructions written out by the Dr., explain dosing instructions, answer phone calls, schedule follow-up appointments, communicate with the veterinarians regarding discharge instructions, rechecks, and refills.
In addition to a good personality, the ideal candidate must have the following qualifications:
Must be able to pay particular attention to dosing instructions and detail
Must have experience in a veterinary clinic
Must be able to learn the computer software for in clinic and online pharmacy
Must be able to follow directions in particular order
Must be dependable, show up on time, and carry yourself in a professional manor
Must be able to help keep a clean and safe environment
Pay will be based upon experience and expected performance
