Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing care and support to our animal patients. This position requires a strong passion for animals and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other procedures under the supervision of CVTs
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Assist with diagnostic procedures
- Provide basic grooming services such as expressing anal glands and nail trimming
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, kennels, and other areas
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis under the supervision of a CVT
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and nutrition
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is preferred
- Familiarization with technique and laboratory procedures is beneficial
Skills:
- Strong passion for animals and their well-being
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Compassionate nature when handling animals in distress
