    Key Responsibilities:

    Accurate, objective, and timely analysis of pertinent data is critical to the safety and success of our airline operations. This role is critical in supporting the development and execution of a cohesive safety data strategy within Flight Standards. The role involves supporting the development and implementation of data analytics tools and coordinating with stakeholders to implement day-to-day and future strategic and tactical duties to facilitate the Flight Operations Quality Control program.

    The Senior Analyst - Flight Operations Quality Control will serve as a subject matter expert, supporting the Senior Manager - Quality Control. The Senior Analyst is responsible for data visualization and logistical coordination, assisting with Flight Ops Quality Control duties. This individual will build and deploy necessary data tracking and visualization products, including on-demand dashboards, to enable data-driven business and performance-based insights. This role will facilitate the effective, clear, and timely execution and tracking of Quality Control program schedules, initiatives, requirements, and performance data within the department. It involves developing key metrics through data analysis and providing actionable, data-driven intelligence.

    Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with Flight Training and Operational teams to analyze, identify, predict, and improve areas of concern regarding operational performance degradation, as identified by Quality Control evaluations of Flight Instructors, Fleet Technical Instructors, Evaluators, and Line Check Pilots.
    • Partner with the Digital Technology team to develop streamlined and comprehensive data analytics workflows.
    • Develop and implement data products to track leading and lagging indicators for Flight Operations Quality Control management and optimization.
    • Assist in the coordination of United's Flight Operations Quality Control program, as documented and prescribed by the Flight Standards Manual, to support both Flight Standards and Flight Training in the identification and implementation of measurable performance improvements.
    • Enhance rater reliability and calibration of instruction and evaluation grading techniques during qualification and continuing qualification training with real-time data analytics by designing and developing statistical models.
    • Facilitate the development and migration of data from external vendor programs to support future migration to internal programming and infrastructure.
    • Collaborate with digital and operational teams to analyze and reduce performance variability.
    • Coordinate with United's Safety Management System.
    • Handle the Quality Control database of Flight Standards performance data.
    • Extend areas of expertise to predictive and prescriptive analytics, data visualization, modeling, coding, reporting automation, and Corporate Safety Standard design.
    • Configure backend data ontologies and develop/maintain tables to support data visualization and transformation processes, ensuring data quality and availability.
    • Provide day-to-day logistical support and coordination.
    • Assist the Senior Manager - Quality Control and key team members in ensuring effective program management in accordance with Flight Standards Manual policies and procedures.
    • Construct data products, including dashboards vital for the Flight Standards Quality Control program, crucial for performance management, calibration, and ongoing training support.
    • Assist the Senior Manager - Quality Control in enhancing programs by handling revisions, being responsible for external partner contracts, and allocating resources for effective data analysis.
    • Provide technical guidance for the design, development, and implementation of automation process workflows among collaborators within Flight Standards and Flight Training.
    • Offer ongoing support and training to internal customers, ensuring proficiency in using data dashboards and analytics tools.
    • Act as a liaison between end-users and technical teams, addressing user queries, resolving issues, and enhancing overall user experience.
    • Proactively identify areas within Flight Standards for process optimization, focusing on safety data management and reporting.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions and advancements, aligning with safety and risk-related objectives.
    • Explore and recommend new methodologies, tools, or approaches to improve efficiency and effectiveness in safety data management and reporting.

    Qualifications

    What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

    Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience in computer science, data science, information systems, engineering, or another quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, economics).

    At least 2 years of experience in business intelligence, logistics, visualization, and/or data analytics.

    3-4 years of experience working with complex data in data analytics, information science, data visualization, or other relevant quantitative fields.

    Intermediate to expert level SQL skills.

    Intermediate to expert level Power BI dashboarding experience (e.g., PowerBI, Tibco Spotfire) to produce relevant, elegant dashboards.

    Proficiency in writing complex code using both traditional and modern technologies/languages (e.g., Python, HTML, Javascript, Power Automate, Spark Node) for queries, procedures, and final formatted reporting in an email format.

    Ability to study, understand, and support business and project management needs, then design a data/technology solution that connects business processes with quantifiable outcomes.

    Strong project execution and communication and presentation skills.

    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.

    Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification.

    Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.

    What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

    Master's degree or equivalent experience.

    Palantir or Tibco Certifications.

    Lean Six Sigma certification.

    4 years of experience in business intelligence, logistics, visualization, and/or data analytics preferred.

    Experience with Foundry/Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and hands-on experience working with extensive data sets.
