Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Vehicle Maintenance Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Clean Harbors’ Asset Refurbishment Department in South Plainfield, New Jersey is looking for a highly skilled Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic to add to their team. The South Plainfield facility is a state-of-the-art facility specializing in repairing of Heavy Duty Diesel Trucks; including Vacuum Trucks, Tanker Trucks, Tractors and Straight Trucks. This position is known internally as a Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic and the schedule will be 12pm - 9:30pm.
Successful candidates will have:
• 1 years of experience working on Diesel Trucks
• A strong mechanical aptitude
• The ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment and vehicles
• The ability to disassemble trucks and repair components
• The ability to inspect diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems
• The ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair Diesel Engines, Differentials, Transmissions, Clutches, Drive Shafts, PTO’s and Pumps
• Experience welding or fabricating parts a plus
• Proficiency in electronic work orders
• Computer skills required
• Ability to drive company vehicle
• Hours: Full-Time Day Shift Position Monday- Friday (overtime and Saturdays available)
