Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program which includes the repair of broken and failing equipment, keeping record of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment and services. Inspects diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in utility vehicles, sweepers, mowers, tractors, and other mechanical equipment used on the golf course. Repairs differentials, carburetors, duel pumps, steering systems, starters, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems and high pressure pumps and valves. Complete overhaul on mower reels Winter Months ready for next season. Installs batteries, tires and wiring. May do some welding and cutting work in making fixings used in automotive equipment. Sets moving height of all mowers to ensure exact cutting height specified by supervisors.
