Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. ```Job Description```
This position reports to the Manager of Fleet Operations and serves as the primary customer contact for the service department. This person would be responsible for compliance with OSHA and DOT Transportation Regulations. The position will manage and direct all areas of the service department for the main facility in Kansas City.
```Duties consist of```
- Prepare various monthly reports necessary to schedule PM inspections and other scheduled maintenance
-Assign mechanic work schedules including hours and shifts
-Assess priorities and oversee shop daily work schedule
-Responsible for quantity and efficiency of work in the shops also recommend and establish communication of shop rules, regulations and safety procedures
-Hold shop meetings with Shift Leads and Technicians as well as set shift schedules
-Determine need for shop tools and equipment
-Determine best course of action in subletting work to outside vendors
-Assist and/or handle local and out of town road failures
-Consult with Leadman and advise customers of damage and billable repairs
-Responsible for adherence of maintenance personnel to company policies and recommending implementation of appropriate corrective actions
-Advise and assist upper management in determining building maintenance needs, safety needs, proper repair practices and improved productivity
-Interface with rental department on scheduling repairs, arranging sub vehicle for lease customers
-Supervise activities of Leadmen and provide Leadmen with necessary information which will enable efficient work flows throughout the shift
-Assist in the training and developing of newly hired technicians
-Interface with OEM Service Representatives on troubleshooting and diagnostic problems
-Perform oral and written communication regarding repair descriptions, inspection reports, and other internal documents
-Apply knowledge in accordance with DOT,
EPA, OSHA and other rules and regulations as required
-Perform other duties as required

-Must have good computer skills, Enrich experience a plus
-Minimum 5 years' experience in vehicle maintenance industry, including medium/heavy duty trucks and trailers
-Good work history and driving record
-Self-motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
-Work in a professional manner and properly interact with customers
-DOT pre-employment physical and drug screen required
-Possess a positive attitude and take pride in performing quality work
