Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Vehicle Maintenance Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. SUMMARYUnder the direction and Vehicle Maintenance Manager, the Mechanic I operates and inspects automotive, snow grooming, and mechanical equipment to diagnose defects, analyze malfunctions, and perform overhaul, servicing, maintenance and repair work as required.  The Mechanic I is responsible for the mechanical care and well-being of Resort vehicles and equipment. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Locate, correct and adjust defects in complex automotive, light and heavy duty, snow grooming and specialized equipment. Perform skilled work to repair, overhaul and maintain gas, diesel, and electrical powered automotive, golf cart, forestry and snow grooming equipment. Diagnose, repair, adjust and replace necessary units and parts such as rods, valves, pistons, gears, bearings, fuel and exhaust components, assemblies and cooling systems. Repair, overhaul and replace brakes, ignition systems, transmissions, differentials, and axle assemblies. Repair and install hydraulic pumps and controls and fluids. Repair, overhaul and assemble electrical equipment such as generators, distributors, ignitions, starters, and other complex equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Maintain and utilize all appropriate and necessary personal safety equipment. Install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, tires, mirrors and windshield wipers. Maintain detailed records of time and materials used for completion of diagnosis and repairs. Use computerized maintenance software program to track repair and mileage/condition related data   QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education diploma (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training as a mechanic; or equivalent combination of education and experience.   LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.   MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.   REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.   CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Current driver license with a driving history that meets the minimum standards required by the Resorts insurance carrier.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
