Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Vehicle Maintenance Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Responsible for data management, vehicle inspection program, among other programs in the
Maintenance Department
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Graduate or GED required
Three years experience in management preferred Computer knowledge
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports compliance programs ADA, boilers, HVAC and elevators Maintenance work order system
management
Preventive maintenance work order program & scheduling Follow up on work order reports by trade
Responsible to manage any necessary data in the Maintenance Department Responsible to update &
provide utility reports
Management of Waste and recycling program
Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the waste compactors Liaison between school
district and municipal waste management program Responsible for Maintenance Department recycling
program.
Maintenance vehicle management
Ensure all vehicles are up to date with vehicle registration
Manage and maintain GPS tracking devices in Maintenance’s vehicles Management of automated gate
programming
Responsible to complete access card requests
As requested to perform facilities inspection and reporting Responsible to keep track and
completion of assigned work orders.
Complies with all applicable and health and safety regulations, policies and established work
practices. Responds to emergency calls.
Works under modified shifts to accomplish Department’s goals and objectives Performs other related
duties as assigned by supervisor.
