Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Vehicle Maintenance Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance operations of the company's fleet
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures, ensuring compliance with safety regulations
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve issues related to mechanical, electrical, and low voltage systems
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and projects
- Fabricate or repair equipment as needed to ensure continuous operation
- Manage the budget for maintenance activities and equipment purchases
- Perform routine oil changes, brake replacements, etc
- Report to the company's president/owner of progress and fill out forms on Excel spreadsheet
Skills:
- Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment efficiently
- Proficiency in electrical systems to address issues with wiring, circuits, and controls
- Ability to fabricate parts or equipment when necessary
- Experience in maintenance management, including scheduling and prioritizing tasks
- Fluency in English for effective communication within the team and with external partners
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Google Drive, iPads, laptops, etc.
Must be:
- 21 years old
- Have a valid US License
- Pass a drug test and DOT physical exam
- Familiar with step vans, box trucks, cargo vans, etc. and comfortable driving them
