Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Vehicle Maintenance Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor

  • The Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor is a general operations position but is assigned to the Director of Transportation with a focus on that directorate’s needs. This position can perform and assist with a variety of tasks to assist the managing operations team and the directorate of Transportation. Some duties and responsibilities may have a higher focus than others depending on contract and company needs.

    Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

    • May assist in the daily administration of operations functions including, but not limited tocommunications with ops staff members, event/meeting planning and coordination,special projects,developing/working on policies both internal to operations and external with support staff
    • Mission organization during disaster response.
    • Internal process improvement
    • Create and implement training specific to vehicle maintenance and repairs.
    • Oversee (and personally comply with) maintenance and safety standard operating procedures, ensuring that local maintenance staff follow them, and comply with all locally applicable public authority legislation, regulation and standards
    • Create work orders and assign work to the appropriate staff.
    • Ensure the work orders are being completed and log the appropriate information into Deployed Resources’ asset trackers.
    • Oversee the parts inventory maintained and used within the Deployed Resources facilities.
    • Oversee (and participate in when appropriate) the work needed to implement preventive maintenance for the vehicles serviced.
    • Oversee (and participate in when appropriate) the work needed to complete “unscheduled repairs” to the vehicles serviced.
    • Supervise all maintenance staff.
    • Located and negotiate pricing with repair shops when equipment needs repairs away from a Deployed Resources’ facility.
    • Diagnose problems over the phone with DR staff and explain how to troubleshoot issues.
    • Travel associated with conferences, trade shows, networking, site visits, and site management

    Required Education and Experience

    • High School graduate or equivalent required. AA/AS degree preferred, or related experience may be substituted.
    • Five (5) years experience in a diesel shop working on Heavy/Medium Duty vehicles and trailers.
    • Two (2) years supervisor experience preferred.

    Skills and Specifications

    • Must be able to communicate clearly; interactivity with global workforce.
    • Exceptional organizational skills, communication skills (both written and verbal), and business acumen
    • Ability to take direction and work independently, while prioritizing tasks
    • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English
    • Proficient in computer software. Must be comfortable learning and adapting to new technology. Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite a must
    • Possess an outgoing, confident personality
    • Display leadership potential
    • Must have thorough knowledge of Medium and Heavy-Duty repairs as pertained to vehicles and trailers.
    • Must have basic knowledge of hydraulics.
    • Ability to use good judgment and Decision-Making skills
    • Background in planning and scheduling maintenance repairs (Daily, Weekly, Monthly)
    • Supervisor experience in purchasing, and budget management experience
    • Must be willing to work flexible schedules
    • Experience with Compliance with the local applicable DOT compliance of Med / Heavy Trucks
    • Local to Raeford, NC
    • Available to work various hours including nights, holidays, and weekends when needed.
    • Ability to travel to job sites when needed as required.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position may be responsible for the mentorship and training of several maintenance personnel in the Transportation department. Additionally this position may be called upon to supervise or site manage while on a job site. Supervisory duties include but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring all company and job specific training is completed
    • Completing annual reviews
    • Reviewing and approving time cards as applicable
    • Mentoring
    • Completing disciplinary or corrective action, coaching, or positive feedback

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment and field environments. We operate 24/7/365, inside and outside, in all weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other presentation materials. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Employee will be required to travel (at organization expense) in automobile and/or aircraft. Expectation of exposure to weather (heat, cold, rain, snow) as operations occur in all areas of the country with potential for overseas travel. Lifting of up to 75 lbs may occur. Ability to twist, turn, bend, lift, kneel, climb and stand.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position based in Raeford, NC. Typical office hours are Mon-Fri 7:00am-4:00pm Eastern Standard Time, however regular hours will be determined by supervisor, with flexibility upon request. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on contract needs. It is expected for this position to attend regular meetings during typical work hours in Eastern Standard Time as well as meetings as needed for assigned projects in other time zones.

    Travel

    This position requires up to 25% travel. Travel is dependent on contract load. Ability to travel to job sites and be away for extended periods of time based on contract needs is required. Short notice travel is required with 24-48 hours notice.

    Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

    • CDL Preferred
    • Must be able to travel CONUS.
    • Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check, and a background check.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license. Have/maintain a clean driving record. CDL is a plus.
    • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC card
