Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Vehicle Maintenance Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the effective initiating and directing of plant wide projects to improve machine up-time, efficiencies, and overall production, including new design and engineering solutions. Directs employees to complete daily tasks to maintain and improve the overall environment of the plant, inside and outside. Manages all maintenance, repair and overhaul for the facility and its’ machines, and equipment, including ordering and procuring necessary materials. Supports safety initiatives and production. Initiate, implement, direct, and schedule machine preventive maintenance program.
