Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results. Being a Vascular Technician may perform therapeutic procedures such as pseudoaneurysm compression. Requires an associate degree in medical sonography or equivalent. Additionally, Vascular Technician may require the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential. Job Description:
Serve as a Vascular and Abdominal Technologist for Minneapolis VA Health Care System
Perform vascular and abdominal ultrasound examinations to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases
Utilize sonography equipment to capture images of blood vessels and evaluate blood flow
Record and analyze patient's medical history and vital signs
Apply aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment during procedures
Accurately identify and assess vascular structures
Collaborate with physicians to provide diagnostic evaluations and interpretations of test results
Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment
Conduct patient clinical assessment and perform the ordered diagnostic medical sonography exam
As necessary, acquire additional ultrasound imaging
Identify and document any limitations to the sonography examination
Assist providers by:
Ensure reports are complete with all billing requirements
Assist with the daily operation of the sonography facility
Qualifications:
Graduate of an ultrasound program or formal training program
Possess RVT or RVS certification
BLS certification (preferred)
Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) (Required and must provide)
2 years of experience as a Vascular Technologist or similar role
Experience with the following vascular ultrasound examinations:
Familiarity with diagnostic evaluation techniques and protocols
