Vascular Technician performs ultrasound examinations of the cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vessels to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders affecting circulation. Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results. Being a Vascular Technician may perform therapeutic procedures such as pseudoaneurysm compression. Requires an associate degree in medical sonography or equivalent. Additionally, Vascular Technician may require the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential. Typically reports to a physician or manager. Vascular Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. SUMMARY OF POSITION :
Responsible to perform diagnostic studies utilizing duplex ultrasound technology, continuous wave Doppler and other noninvasive vascular assessment technologies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Two year formal ultrasound program and RVT eligibility required at time of hire. If recent graduate (less than 6 months) certification required within 6 months of hire.
(OR) Current RVT through ARDMS with two (2) years' experience in a dedicated vascular laboratory required.
BLS certification required within three (3) months of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Experience in noninvasive vascular scanning in an accredited vascular lab preferred.
On-the-job experience is preferred but a 6-month clinical externship in a dedicated vascular laboratory setting is acceptable.
