Vascular Technician performs ultrasound examinations of the cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vessels to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders affecting circulation. Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results. Being a Vascular Technician may perform therapeutic procedures such as pseudoaneurysm compression. Requires an associate degree in medical sonography or equivalent. Additionally, Vascular Technician may require the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential. Typically reports to a physician or manager. Vascular Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The Lead Sonographer is responsible for clinical supervision and on-going clinical education of Sonographers. Must be able to effectively train new hires and oversee Quality Assurance for back office of designated clinic. Facilitates on-site training and subject matter clinical expertise to optimize patient safety and outcomes while driving clinical standards. Must be proficient in performing abdominal and peripheral vascular ultrasound exams.
